Jewish American Heritage Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the rich cultural traditions, resilience, and lasting contributions of Jewish Americans. Since the arrival of 23 Jewish refugees to New Amsterdam in 1654, Jewish communities have been part of shaping the evolving story of the United States—through the arts, science, education, public service, activism, and more.
Jewish American identities are beautifully diverse, rooted in a range of histories, traditions, and global experiences—including Ashkenazi, Sephardi, Mizrahi, and other diasporic communities. This month invites us to honor that diversity, learn from the past, and uplift the voices and experiences of Jewish Americans today. It’s also a time to reflect on the ongoing need to stand together against antisemitism and all forms of hate, while continuing to build inclusive, welcoming communities for all.
